Crete is the biggest of the Greek Islands and also the most magical. It is an island of contrast containing a beautiful variety of mountain villages, rocky bays, winding roads, and long sandy beaches. Western Crete is less developed than its eastern counterpart thereby allowing Cretan culture and tradition to remain intact. Bathed in sunshine for most of the year, the climate is one of the best in Europe. Crete is understandably a very popular travel and villa holiday destination.
Crete lies at the southern end of the Aegean Sea and covers an area of 8,336 km². As the south coast of the island looks out over the Libyan sea the island benefits from the warm North African weather fronts that sweep over the island in the summer. With over 1000 km of both rugged and silky coast line it is a beach worshipers and hikers paradise.
Crete is dotted with hundreds of villages ranging from small, untouched hamlets to larger townships complete with magnificent churches and squares. There are walks, climbs, drives and rides that take you across stunning plateaus, dramatic mountains and seascapes all within a short distance of your villa.
Most tourists visit Crete between the months of April and October. However, November to March is becoming increasingly popular with people who prefer the cooler winter months for hiking and exploring.
